How to export Jira issues to CSV for a project health check

Jira can export the result of any issue search to CSV. With due dates and resolved dates in the file, the free Project Health Check shows adherence to plan, overdue work and a milestone timeline.

Steps

1. Go to Filters and search for the issues of your project (for example project = ABC).
2. Click Export and choose Export CSV (all fields).
3. Open the Project Health Check and drop the CSV into step 1.

Menu names can differ slightly between Jira versions.

Tips

• Fill in due dates. Issues without a due date are left out of adherence to plan.
• Milestones: use an issue type “Milestone” or a label “milestone”. The tool picks both up.
• Custom statuses such as “Blocked” or “Ready for QA” can be mapped to Not started, In progress, Completed or Leave out during import.
